King James Lodge #190 History
King James Lodge was named by ILL. Charles Cherry. King James is from the King James Bible and the 190 is from the ILL. Roscoe Windley. The 190 represents the January the month King James came into existence and the 90 represents the year 1990. Along with five other Brothers, King James #190 was formed. In the same year ILL. Edward Garriett joined King James Lodge along with 13 more brothers. In the years 1991 to 1993, ILL. Charles Cherry served as the Worshipful Master of King James #190 as it grew and did great deeds in the community. In January of 1993, ILL. Edward Garriett became the Worshipful Master and King James Lodge continued doing charity in the community and Brothers within the Lodge received higher degrees and various awards. Brother Garriett led King James Lodge #190 to the year 1997. In the year of 1998, ILL. Scottie Horton became the Master of King James Lodge and continued to do charity work in the community.
In 1999 ILL. Edward Garriett became Worshipful Master of King James and served again in the year 2000. In 2001 ILL. Charles Chery returned as Worshipful Master and held the position through the year 2002 and continued the good community work. In the years 2002, 2003 and 2004 ILL. Edward Garriett returned as Worshipful Master of King James #190. King James #190 work in the community continued. The community service activities were a soup and salad event where the Lodge fed the homeless, little King James contest and visits to the nursing homes throughout the Charlotte community. In 2005 ILL. Alanza Crowder became Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190 and continued the community work.
In 2006 ILL. Edward Garriett returned as Worshipful Master and the Lodge continued to work in the community. In the years 2007 through 2009, Brother Phillip Ballard was the Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190. The community service activities were feeding the homeless at homeless shelters, doing repair work at two community schools, fundraisers and providing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to the needy. In 2010 ILL. Hubert Jones became the Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190. The community service work is still ongoing. This year, King James Lodge has worked at two community schools, cleaned Derita little league ball field and completed two fundraisers. ILL. Hubert Jones served 2010-2011. In 2012 ILL. Lewis Hall became Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190. Community service work is still ongoing. In 2013 ILL. Richard Jenkins became the Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190. Community service work is still ongoing. In 2014 ILL. Lewis Hall became appointed as the Worshipful Master of King James. In 2014 the King James #190 received the Lodge of the Year Award and ILL. Lewis Hall Lodge #190 received the Master Mason of the Year Award with ongoing community service. In 2015 ILL. William Sharpe became the Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190 with continued work in the community ongoing. In 2017 ILL. Hubert Jones became the Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190 with continued work in the community ongoing.
In 2018 ILL. Nealand M. Lewis became the Worshipful Master of King James Lodge #190 with continued work in the community ongoing. In 2018 the Lodge was awarded for their performance from King David Grand Lodge of NC. Their programs included but were not limited to: development of website portal to enhance processing; clothing drive for the Men's Shelter of Charlotte; providing school supplies to needy children; supporting the City of Charlotte Adopting Highway Program; feeding needy families for Thanksgiving & Christmas; Shoes for Souls campaign; supporting the Tent City effort; and providing food for countless homeless families.
